I hope you were inspired by my previous post on Shabby Chic, because further fact evidence that recession-proof designer fashion is here, is my testimonial about a personal experience with the Rodarte for Target collection:
I fell in love with a dress from the Rodarte for Target collection and when I saw it online, and ordered it immediately (total steal! Less that $40!!!). I’ll admit, the fit was a little janky because the size 5 I ordered was billowy on top and snug on the bottom, even though it seemed like it should be looser.
I went to Target to exchange for a size up, and the 7 fit looser on top and just as tight on the bottom… So I tried a 9… And the same thing happened! For argument’s sake I tried on an 11, which was literally falling off on top, but it was still snug on the bottom. So I went back to the 5, which fit best overall. Since the bottom was more snug than I thought a billowy ethereal dress should fit, I hemmed it to mini-length and made it a hybrid of soft/delicate and straight FREAKUM!! The finished product is below:
Whaddaya think? $38, plus $8 for the hem job, and I feel like a milli in this outfit, that needs little to no accessories. So despite the hassle with the fit, I still consider this piece a steal. See how I paired it below, with basic black Christian Louboutin Pumps and diamond stud earrings.
