I’ve always been good with creative stuff like makeup, nails hair but as of late I’ve expanded my repertoire into party planning/decorating with the help of our trusted friend Pinterest. I was asked to do the decorations for one of my closest friend’s baby shower, and I created a board on Pinterest and begin looking for design concepts by searching things like “lavender shower” “winter shower” “baby shower décor” and other random terms.

 Through a few trips to the dollar store (where I got these awesome vases for just a buck each), Party City, Kmart my local craft store and the grocery store where I scored 5 bundles of baby’s breath for $5 each that I split over 12 vases, I managed to get the whole place decorated for under $100 bucks.

Winter Blues

Alright, I’m not sure about you but I am READY for Spring!! Bright colors, florals and sandals are calling my name. I’ve been on a serious fitness plan since January 7th and determination is the name of the game! Just you wait. Mia and I will definitely have to share some of our recipes and workouts with you all! It’s all about fitness in 2013!

But while it’s still cold in the “Hot”lanta, I’m making due. My cape is Cejon, dress Arden B., knee highs socks… I really can’t remember where they’re from, grey suede BCBG pumps and teal velvet gloves from Macys! Oh, I am holding a tiny black and gold clutch from TJ Maxx.

Buying on deep discount usually means you’re buying for the season that just passed, or is passing now, i.e. Winter. But if you spend a lot of time shopping online you can find some great upcoming season items at deep discount. Unless you’re the girl who needs the latest and newest item (which I don’t recommend unless you like being twins with everyone on the beach/bar/bookstore) then this is a great route. Here’s a great spring/summer dress that can be worn with tights and a denim jacket in early Spring and by itself in the Summer! Budweiser Black Crown Launch Party

Going to launch parties are fun, especially for alcoholic beverages. Granted I’ve been Shutting Up and Training (Mr. Shut Up And Train) so I was mostly just holding the bottle, and I MUST say, I’m more glad I’ve spent the month training and not drinking because these photos are proof of my hard work! My dress is from Shopbop, shoes (not sure they’re in the photos) are Charles Jourdan, here they are on DSW if you want some awesome green pumps. Makeup done by ME! I went with a brown smokey eye and red lip. I also tried a different contour and highlight this time, like how it turned out. Huge thanks to Mia for being a great teacher.

Easy peasy lazy girl outfit

Want to look FAB in just about anything? Do your makeup. There, post over, problems solved. ;) But seriously, worrying less about your outfit and more about your face makes a big impact! Let’s take this look:

Actual fitness leggings and a Joie black v-neck, both from TJ Maxx (Frugal Fashionistas are in ladies), BCBG pumps and an Urban Outfitters blazer are my whole look. I threw on an H&M beret because I didn’t want to do my hair. Lastly a necklace from the Atlanta Apparel Mart and we’re off! It was a super simple look for a week night event, but the one thing I did take the time to do was a full face of makeup:

Brows, eyes, lips, foundation, contour and highlight. It makes a huge difference ladies. Don’t let silly boys and girls who don’t know or care to learn how to do makeup deter you. You work out to look better, put some makeup on as well.

Bonus!! Here’s the video from the event, and I had one too many cookies because I get sillier as the video goes on. Catch my 4 cameos!

Plato’s Closet

Hey guys! Sorry it’s been so long, 2013 is turning into a busy year (GREAT, but busy). We’re planning some new things for Mia & Maki so please keep in touch with us!

So, in what seems like a never-ending shopping fast (2013 is all about financial freedom, get your mind right), I am on any way around satisfying the shopping craving – cut to my enjoyment while grocery shopping or thrill in selecting light bulbs.

I recently made a trip to Plato’s Closet, to drop off some items I could manage to part with, and since Plato’s pays cash for clothes, they also offer the option to spend that cash in-store tax-free! So, when the clerk told me she’d give me $9 and change for a couple tops I jumped at the opportunity to spend my hard earned cash. I mean, technically what I’m doing is bartering – not shopping…right? ;)

The Atlanta location had a considerable clearance section, and the clerk informed me everything on clearance was only $2. You can imagine my excitement. The coupon queen has arrived!! So after pushing through every. single. item. in the clearance section, I took 4 pair of jeans, and an assortment of tops and jackets to the fitting room. I greatly underestimated my pant size, and had to put every single pair back on the rack, as they were all way to small, but the tops I chose were great! I found THREE jackets all marked down to $2 a piece. I left the store with not only three new-to-me items but $3 as well! I consider that a marathon victory. Let me show you the spoils of my victory: The first jacket is H&M and a very nice lined silk blend! The second jacket doesn’t have a tag, but is lined and resembles brushed silk. The last photo of a trench coat, is by John Weitz, I found the exact coat on Ebay. I’m thrilled to have found three lined jackets to take me into spring!

World War Z – Thank you Brad Pitt

Well, I must say I’m pleasantly surprised! I never imagined Brad would DO a zombie movie. And sinze zombies and Brad Pitt are my two favorite types of people ;) I am beside myself!! This is a new breed of zombie, one that can actually CATCH you (sorry Walking Dead, this is the Usain Bolt of the un-dead). Check the trailer and let us know what you think. I’ll see anything with Mr. Pitt, so throw in a zombie and I might just buy your ticket too!
